Manufacturer’s Warranty

HandyScoot™ warrants your mobility scooter against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of the original retail purchase as follows: 

2-Year Limited Warranty: Structural Frame under normal use conditions.

2-Year Limited Warranty: All components, including motor, brakes, electrical, and axles under normal use conditions.

2-Year Limited Warranty: Battery under normal use conditions.

This limited warranty extends only to the original owner and is not transferable to anyone else. If a defect exists, HandyScoot™ will, at its option and to the extent permitted by law either (1) provide components to repair the unit using new or refurbished parts at no charge to you, (2) exchange the HandyScoot™ with functionally equivalent product that is new or refurbished, or (3) refund the original purchase price. This warranty excludes damage caused by abuse, misuse, accidents, unauthorized repairs, alterations, modifications, or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship for which HandyScoot™ is responsible.

This Limited Warranty does not cover parts that may, under normal wear and tear, require replacement including, without limitation, tires, upholstery, fuses, etc.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HANDYSCOOT™ IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR SERVICE OF THE HANDYSCOOT™. THE WARRANTY AND REMEDIES STATED ABOVE ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, REMEDIES, OR CONDITIONS, WHETHER ORAL, WRITTEN, EXPRESS, STATUTORY, OR IMPLIED TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. HANDYSCOOT™ SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, or exclusions of incidental or consequential damages and the above limitations may not apply to you. This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights in your state.

This warranty and all lawsuits, disputes, and claims will be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of New Mexico, regardless of any conflict of law principles.  The parties also irrevocably consent to the jurisdiction of the State Court of Santa Fe County, New Mexico, and agree that the State Court of Santa Fe, New Mexico shall have exclusive jurisdiction and be the sole venue for the consideration of any lawsuits, disputes, and claims between the parties.

The parties hereby waive the right to any jury trial on any lawsuit, dispute, claim or controversy.  The parties also waive any right to consolidate or to have handled as a class action any proceeding on any lawsuit, dispute, claim, or controversy.  The parties agree that any proceedings will be conducted solely on an individual basis.  The parties agree not to seek to have any lawsuit, dispute, claim, or controversy heard as a class action, private attorney general action, or in any other proceeding in which either party acts or proposes to act in a representative capacity.

If any provision herein is found to be illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be severed with the remaining in full force and effect.

 

Manufacturer’s Return Policy

Return Policy: All returns must be made within 14 days of delivery and only in “as new” condition in the original box with all the components. The customer is responsible for all shipping costs including incidental shipping damage caused by improper packing. A Return Authorization must be made by written request to info@Handyscoot.com and the return must be accompanied by the original receipt. All returns are subject a 10% restocking fee.

Waiver of Liability, Disclaimer, and Indemnification

When utilizing a HandyScoot™ and equipment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and had the opportunity to ask questions regarding this Waiver of Liability, Disclaimer, and Indemnification and agree to these as a condition for the use/purchase of the HandyScoot™.

I hereby guarantee that I, the “Purchaser”, am of sound mind, am over the age of 18 years old, and acknowledge and recognize that the equipment is unfamiliar to me, and it is my sole responsibility to use utmost care and caution when determining where and when I ride the scooter utilizing the guidelines in the HandyScoot™ Instruction Manual.

I agree to be the sole person driving the scooter and I am fully responsible for any person or persons who, with or without my consent, sit on, or ride the scooter.  I hereby release, waive, and discharge the right to seek medical reimbursement or the legal prosecution of HandyScoot™ for any physical injury resulting to myself or someone else or property damage from the equipment provided by HandyScoot ™.

I hereby agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless HandyScoot™, its managers, members, employees, and agents for any loss or damages awarded by a court of competent jurisdiction resulting from any claim, action, or demand including reasonable attorney’s fees arising out of or related to the HandyScoot™ and equipment provided by HandyScoot™.  It is my express intent that this Waiver of Liability, Disclaimer, and Indemnification shall bind my family, my heirs, assigns, and personal representatives.  I am aware that the operation of a personal mobility device such as the HandyScoot™ has inherent risks.  By reading, understanding, and signing HandyScoot’s™ Waiver of Liability, Disclaimer, and Indemnification I fully accept and assume responsibility for all such risks, losses, costs, and damages incurred as a result of operating the HandyScoot™.

How will I know my order is confirmed?

As soon as you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation e-mail.  This means that we have received your order in our system and pre-authorized your credit card for the purchase. 

When will my card be charged?

As soon as we receive your order, we automatically reach out to our suppliers to confirm that it is in stock and available for immediate shipment.  If your item is on backorder or unavailable, we will void the pre-authorization and reach out to you via e-mail.  If your item(s) are available for immediate shipment (within 5 business days), we will process the charges and submit the order for shipment.

When will I know my order has shipped?

Cancellations of Custom Orders

In the event, you have made a custom or made-to-order product cannot be canceled or refunded as these products are put into production specifically for your order

These units, are custom-made to your specification or created once your order. Once you place your order they start building your unit. Your warranty will guarantee you a fully functional and operational product. If it is not clear whether your order is custom or made to order, please message or call us. 

All sales are final for Custom made and Made-to-order products.

Refunds and Returns

If you need to exchange your product, you may do so. You, as the customer, are responsible for any shipping costs throughout any returns and exchange processes. 

Not all orders are available for return once they have shipped. We order our products directly from the manufacturer. Therefore, if the manufacturer will not permit us to return a product, we cannot offer you a return. This often varies on a case-by-case basis; please reach out to us if you would like specific information on your brand and/or product. 

Due to drastically increasing LTL/freight shipping costs, any outright returns will incur a 25% cancellation fee + return shipping costs. If you are replacing the product with something else, we may be able to help you cover some of the costs depending on the product. 

Shipping Times

We promise to do our best to get your order to you as soon as possible.  We provide estimated shipping times on the product pages based upon what our suppliers and freight companies tell us, and those estimated shipping times may change or vary without notice (Due to supply chain issues, the steel mills behind on making metal, the manufacturers delayed because of the mills, the overwhelming demand on shipping, factory/warehouse and dock workers and so on). 

Order delays have proven to be unavoidable and outside of Home Power Direct's control. While this might be frustrating, we ask you to please be patient and understanding with us in these tough times. We thank you for your business and appreciate your patience.

Warranty 

Warranties vary depending upon the manufacturer - see individual product pages for details. Warranty damages occur over time and from use. If an item was damaged upon arrival, and not reported within 30 days, that is not a warranty claim.

FAQ

  • Does insurance or Medicare cover the cost?

The HandyScoot™ is not covered by insurance or Medicare.

  • Can you take the HandyScoot™ on an airplane?

Yes.  We recommend you ride the scooter up to the plane door instead of checking it as luggage which subjects it to greater damage.    Once you arrive at the plane door, they will ask you to remove the battery and carry it on board.  They then hand-carry the scooter down to the cargo section of the plane.  You should always contact your airline in advance of your trip and tell them you will be bringing a scooter.

  • What is the HandyScoot’s™ weight capacity?

Must mobility scooters can handle riders at less than 250 lbs.  The HandyScoot™ mobility scooter can handle people up to an incredible 350 lbs.

  • What is the weight capacity of the baskets and luggage rack?

Each can carry up to 25 lbs.

  • What is the battery range?

Up to 15 miles on a charge.

  • How fast can the HandyScoot™ go?

Up to 9 mph.  There are 3 settings:  0-3 mph, 0-6 mph, and 0-9 mph

  • Can the battery be charged while it is on the scooter?

Yes.  The charging plug is accessible when the battery is connected to the scooter.

  • What is the turning radius for the HandyScoot™?

The turning radius is 26” which makes it easily used indoors around tight corners.

  • Can the HandyScoot™ get wet?

All attempts to keep the controls and battery dry are best.  Wire corrosion from long-term exposure to moisture is the concern.

  • What is the warranty?

There is a 2-year limited warranty on the complete scooter.  This does not apply to user damage or misuse.

  • How much does the heaviest part of the scooter weigh?

29 lbs.  That is without the seat and battery.

  • What is the total weight of the HandyScoot™?

42 lbs.

  • How much of an incline can the HandyScoot™ manage?

The HandyScoot™ meets the American Disabilities Act requirement of a 6° grade.  Based on customer feedback, it can do at least double that grade.

  • How long will the battery last?

The battery is good for up to 500 charges.   It is always best to drain the battery as much as possible before recharging it.

  • How long does it take to recharge the battery?

It will take 1-3 hours based on the age of the battery and how much it is drained.

  • Can the battery be charged in a car or SUV?

Yes.  You will need to get a plug adapter for the cigarette lighter.  Many SUV has a build plug.

  • Will the charger work in other countries?

Yes.  The charger is rated for 100-240V.  It does have a US plug. You will need to purchase a plug adapter that corresponds to the country you will be visiting.

  • Do I need to get an extra battery when I purchase my HandyScoot™?

Many prefer to purchase an extra battery but it is based on personal preference.   The HandyScoot™ battery recharges quickly so in most cases, an extra battery is not needed.  If you do purchase a spare battery, you will need to rotate using them as you will have to recharge each battery at least once every 3-6 months.

  • Where can I have my HandyScoot™ serviced?

Any bicycle or bike shop with a service department will be able to assist.

  • Is there a return policy if the HandyScoot™ does not work out for me?

There is a 7-day return policy on your purchase.   You have 7 days to contact us after you have received your HandyScoot™.  It will need to be returned in the original box, with all the parts, and in new condition.  Return shipping charges and a 10% restocking fee will apply to the return.

  • What are the battery temperature ranges?

Storage temperature range: -4° F (-20°C) to 104°F (40°C)
Charging temperature range: 32°F (0ºC) to 104ºF (40ºC)
Operating temperature range: -4ºF (-20ºC) to 122ºF (50ºC)

  • What is included with the purchase?

The purchase of the HandyScoot™ includes the scooter, 288-watt lithium-ion battery, battery charger, foldable basket, luggage bar, and a light for the front handlebar.

  • Will the charger work outside the USA?

Yes.  The charger is rated for 100-240V.  It comes with a US plug so you will need a local plug adapter.
