Electric Vehicle Management Controller (EVMC)

ELECTRIC VEHICLE MANAGEMENT CONTROLLER (EVMC)

The EVMC brings substantial savings to the installation-costs of very needed charging stations as well as to the monthly utility bill. Designed to work with any non-networked charging station in the market, the EVMC adds efficient power management and allows for cost-effective deployment of EV charging stations in all sorts of environments. Cyber Switching has changed the established conventional concept of dedicating a ‘Single Power Source’ to provide power to the other charging stations, resulting in a dramatic reduction in power infrastructure needed.

Cyber Switching’s system switches power to multiple charging stations in a “round-robin” scenario, so that a single electrical line can feed multiple charging stations, with power incrementally rotating on a programmable timed basis to each vehicle. The EVMC also polls the charging status prior to charging a vehicle and, if charged, moves on to the next vehicle in line. Charge cycle durations are fully programmable. Certain charge stations can get a “priority setting.”

From 4 to 8 times as many vehicles can be charged using the same facilities. Infrastructure material costs for new facilities can be reduced by up to 75%. Monthly utility bills are reduced as the impact of EV charging on peak demand is kept at a minimum. Construction material and labor costs dramatically reduced. Less need for individual circuits, pipe or conduit, wire, and circuit breakers. Most importantly, EVMC has huge environmental benefits.

Shipping Times

We promise to do our best to get your order to you as soon as possible.  We provide estimated shipping times on the product pages based upon what our suppliers and freight companies tell us, and those estimated shipping times may change or vary without notice (Due to supply chain issues, the steel mills behind on making metal, the manufacturers delayed because of the mills, the overwhelmingly demand on shipping, factory/warehouse and dock workers and so on).

Order delays have proven to be unavoidable and outside of Home Power Direct's control. While this might be frustrating, we ask you to please be patient and understanding with us in these tough times. We thank you for your business and appreciate your patience.

Here you’ll be able to find answers to the most frequently asked EV Charging questions. If you have a question and can’t find an answer here, please free to submit it below and we’ll give you an answer to your question.

What is a Level 2 EV Charger?

EV chargers are categorized by levels: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 or DC Fast Chargers (DCFC). A Level 2 charger is a high-power rate option that can charge your vehicle in less time than a Level 1 charger, while still being suitable for residential and commercial applications. DCFCs, on the contrary, are mainly reserved for large commercial and industrial applications.

Do All EVs Use the Same Connector?

All Level-1 and Level-2 EV Chargers feature a standard plug or connector, receiving the name of type 1 connector. A type 1 connector is an international standard plug known as the SAE J1772 connector or simply as a J connector.

But this is not the case for DC Fast Chargers (DCFC). They tend to feature different plugs depending on the EV manufacturer,

How fast are Level-2 EV chargers?

The level-2 charging stations are extremely fast compared to regular Level 1 chargers. The most common 240V charging station features a power rate of 7.5kW, but Level 2 chargers can feature power ratings going from 3kW up to 20kW. Charging speed in kilowatt-hour per mile varies between EV models. For instance Tesla Model 3 could get as much as 83 miles of charge in a single hour and could be fully charged in 3 hours.

How Much Does it Cost to Charge an Electric Car?

Charging cost for electric cars varies on two factors: electricity and efficiency. Highly efficient electric cars consuming 27 kWh per 100 miles, represent a cost of $0.028 per mile, considering the average cost for electricity as ¢/10.7 per kWh. This means that charging a 200-mile range vehicle costs around $5.6.

What is OCPP?

OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is a shared language which is used by EV Charger and Software management platforms to communicate to each other. Not all electric vehicle chargers are OCPP compliant. But the ones who are enjoy a wide selection of features.

What circuit size is required for my EV Charger?
